About

Garment Care & Policies

Your clothing carries real meaning, and I treat it that way. This policy explains how I handle your garments and what each of us is responsible for. Please read it before placing an order. Placing an order means you agree to these terms.

Effective date: October 25, 2026
Business name: RememBear LLC

1. Garment intake

When you send or drop off garments:

  • I’ll inspect each item and document its condition with photos and written notes.
  • You’ll receive a copy of the intake notes, which you should review. If something is missing or incorrect, tell me within 2 business days.
  • Garments are not cut, altered, or disassembled until the deposit is received. The deposit is confirmation that you approve of the design.

2. Condition and limitations

Vintage, delicate, heavily worn, or previously damaged garments may not survive the process. I cannot guarantee that the following will be fully removed or preserved:

  • Stains, odors, or discoloration, including those that appear during cleaning or after stabilizing
  • Fraying, holes, or weak seams that may worsen during handling
  • Shrinkage or stretching, especially in knits and natural fibers
  • Fading, bleeding, or dye transfer
  • Pre-existing damage or weakness that isn’t visible at intake

If I believe a garment is too fragile to safely work with, I’ll tell you before proceeding. You can then choose to proceed, change the design, or cancel with a refund of the deposit minus the return shipping fee.

3. Care during handling

I take care of your garments as though they were my own. Garments are kept in a clean, dry, smoke-free, pet-free space and handled with clean hands. I do not wash garments, so please send them freshly laundered. Pressing and stabilizing are done carefully, but some changes to the fabric are unavoidable when it becomes a keepsake.

4. Liability for loss or damage

I take reasonable care of every garment. If a garment is lost or damaged while in my possession because of my negligence, I will:

  • Notify you promptly
  • Work with you on a fair resolution, which may include a partial refund or a replacement item of similar style and value.

My liability for any garment is limited to the price you paid for the keepsake the garment would be used for or the appraised value of the garment, whichever is lower. I’m not responsible for:

  • Sentimental value, which can’t be replaced or priced
  • Damage that existed before intake or was not documented
  • Normal wear, changes caused by the stabilizing or construction process, or the limitations in Section 2
  • Loss or damage caused by shipping carriers after I hand off the package (I’ll help you file a claim where possible and recommend tracked shipping)

Important: Please keep originals of irreplaceable items backed up with photos or, where possible, a copy.

5. Deposits, payment, and cancellations

  • A 50% deposit is required to confirm your order. It is affirmation that you approve of the design.
  • The deposit is partially refundable if I haven’t started work. The refund will be equal to the deposit minus the cost of return shipping.
  • After I have altered the fabric, whether that is stabilizing, cutting or something else, the deposit is non-refundable. I can return the fabrics to you in whatever state they are in, if you cancel mid-production.
  • The balance is due before the finished order is shipped or picked up.
  • If the invoice is not settled within 30 days, I may donate or otherwise dispose of the final item(s), after attempting to reach you.
  • Cancellations: If you cancel before I’ve begun work, you’ll receive a refund of the deposit minus the return shipping cost. After work begins, the deposit covers time and materials already spent.
  • If I cancel an order, I’ll refund all payments received and return your garments.

6. Timelines

Estimated turnaround begins after I’ve received your deposit and all fabrics. Timelines are estimates, not guarantees, and may change during busy seasons or if a garment needs extra work. I’ll communicate any delays as soon as I know about them.

7. Returning garments

  • Any unused garments are returned with your finished order, unless you’ve asked me to keep them. This may add to the shipping weight and cost.
  • Unused remnants: I will take care of all leftover fabric and trims. If you want to use them for other keepsake work or want them returned to you, I am happy to save them for you. Please inform me of this before work begins.

8. Satisfaction and corrections

  • I will send photographs of the finished items before delivering them to you. If you see any changes you’d like to make, I can complete them before shipping or pickup.
  • Changes to a design after approval may be an additional cost.
  • Please review your finished item and tell me about any issues within 7 days of delivery or pickup. If there’s an error in my workmanship, I’ll fix it at no charge.

9. Photos and portfolio use

With your written permission, I may photograph finished items for my portfolio and social media. I’ll never share identifying personal information without your consent, and you can withdraw permission at any time for future posts.

10. Acknowledgment

By placing an order, you confirm that you:

  • Have read and understand this policy
  • Have the right to authorize work on the garments you’re sending
  • Accept the limitations and responsibilities described above
